Do I need any special software?

A. To view your Dynamic Books online you do not need any special software. If you are looking to view your Dynamic Books offline you will need to install VitalSource Bookshelf.

What are the technical requirements for using DynamicBooks?

A. To view DynamicBooks online you will need to have FireFox 3.5 or later or Safari 3.0 or later, or Internet Explorer 6.0 or later,. To view DynamicBooks offline, you will need: Apple - Mac OS X: 10.4 or later; Windows - XP SP2 (32bit only), Vista (32 or 64 bit), 7 (32 or 64 bit.) and .Net 3.5SP1.

I am having trouble accessing my Dynamic Book yet my Internet connection is working?

A. First, try to reboot your system. If that does not work, clear your cookies. If you continue to have difficulties, visit http://support.vitalsource.com

Can I still read and customize the text even if I'm not online?

A. You can download a copy of your textbook to your computing device that can be accessed anytime. Changes to text, however, can only be made while logged into your DynamicBooks account.

What do I do if I forgot my user name or password? On the sign in page, click the “reset password” link. Enter the email address associated with your DynamicBooks account and select send. You will receive a link to your personal email account. Click on the link to log you into your profile page. (This link can only be used once and will become invalid after 24 hours.) Once you are logged in, you can change your password. Once you’ve made the change, click the “save” button.

A. Yes, you should have only one login and password.

How does a DynamicBook work?

A. DynamicBooks is an interactive online textbook that has been customized by the student’s instructor to match his/her syllabus and course material. Instructors can re-arrange chapters, highlight sections, add animation, audio, video, website links plus add their own content such as course notes or equation problems. Students can take notes, highlight, share notes with friends, search text and take online tests or solve equations created by their instructor. Students use their own preferred computing device, such as a laptop or Apple iPhone.

How do I sign up to use a DynamicBook in my class?

A. In the “Instructor” section of the website, select “adopt it” located on the right side of the screen. A sales representative will contact you with details.

Are there any tutorials on how to customize the product?

A. In the support section of the website, you can access several tutorials that will demonstrate how DynamicBooks works plus tips and ideas that will help you with customization.

What are the copyright laws associated with a DynamicBooks text?

A. The publisher holds the copyright for the original text. If an instructor uploads their own personal content such as course notes or equation problems — the instructor holds the copyright.

Why is a DynamicBooks text so much cheaper than the printed version?

A. By avoiding the printing and distribution process, much of the cost is reduced and the savings are passed on to students.

Is there different content in a DynamicBooks text than the printed version?

A. There is an unique URL address for the digital version, as well as an ISBN for the bound version. Providing either of these to your students will ensure content will be the same. However, if an instructor alters the book during the semester it will be different from the printed version. You will not be able to access any Internet-based materials added to the DynamicBook.

Can I modify content or make changes to the text, images, or links?

A. Yes, you can customize the textbook to suit your needs. Youcan rearrange chapters, additional content, highlight text, add audio, video, animation, images, tests or equations and website links. When you make a change on a page, your changes will be highlighted and a note at the top of the page will state “This page has been altered by [your name]. Each version of the customized textbook will be saved so you can track your changes.

Can I add content from other textbooks?

A. You must obtain written permission from other publishers to add content from another textbook whether it is in print or not.

Can I print out chapters, problem sets, or notes?

A. Yes. You can print ten pages at a time.

Does the Dynamic Book include online practice quizzes or online homework assignments within it?

A. Some Dynamic Books may include these features. Each book will be different.

When are more books going to be available?

A. We are adding titles all the time. Check back often or send us an email with a favorite title sales@dynamicbooks.com.

Are there any additional study guide or supplemental materials available with this book?

A. Instructors will be able to determine what materials they want to add to their dynamic book.

How do I review a sample of DynamicBooks?

A. You can request a sample chapter in the “instructor” section of this website. Look on the right side for the “request a sample” button.

How do students use my customized version?

A. You will be assigned an unique URL and ISBN for your customized book. Please give this information to your students either on your syllabus or via WebAssign.

What if I need to change my account information?

A. You can change your personal account information when you sign in.
